There is a small area of land on the edge of the sea at the far end of Harpswell Island in Maine. It can’t be more than a half mile long and it’s so narrow that at high tide you can’t even walk the trail around the point. There is a small collection of houses and cottages right before the point and it simply looks like another world. I done’t know what it is, but this place captivates me… I love it there.

One very cold winter, while visiting our friends Al and Julia, I went down to the point to photograph. The harsh low winter light made it a bit difficult but I enjoyed the time I spent there photographing. A few weeks later I tried to create final images and I was just simply disappointed. I had some good raw material but just couldn’t create images that represented what this area feels like. I didn't delete the photographs because I knew something was there… buried deep. And finally, in September 2026, seven full years after taking these photographs,I have created final images that I am happy with
