BACKGROUND

Brian grew up in Hamburg, Pennsylvania - a small town located at the foot of the Blue Mountains and part of the Appalachian Trail. This location has contributed to a life-long obsession with the outdoors and our natural landscape. After graduating high school, Brian gained degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and Lehigh University and embarked on a technology career lasting thirty five years.

Brian’s interest in photography started very early, in high school.  Brian’s focus then, which continues to this day, is fine art and personally expressive nature photography.  Brian is self-taught and rediscovered his passion for photography more than twenty years ago, after a light period during his thirties when he was focused heavily on his professional career.  Recently retired, Brian is now able to dedicate even more time seeing and photographing the beauty of our landscape.

While the outdoors and fine art nature photography is his primary focus, Brian also explores the concept of aging and how we treat things that have aged. He has explored abandoned coal breakers, the last silk mill in the US, an old prison, an abandoned lace factory, and abandoned farms and houses. Closely related to this concept is exploring what things look like and feel like when they are most distant in time from when everyone else sees them.

Brian lives with his wife Marilyn in the suburbs of Philadelphia. They have two grown daughters who live in Phila and Wash DC.He shares his passion for photography with his family and friends in hopes that they will see things differently and really see things for the first time that have always been in front of them.
